Good morning second graders and families, I hope you all enjoyed the weekend and are all doing well this morning! We will be moving into Week 3 of our Extended Learning and all activity information is attached below. Please read the letter attached carefully, some information has been updated. We are looking for your child to post 3-4 photos or videos on their Class Dojo Portfolios as evidence that they are showing best effort on the activities provided. If you are doing additional activities, that is fabulous! If you want to share those additional photos with me, you can send them in an email or message in Class Dojo. We would like to organize all evidence of the provided work only in their Portfolios. Please support your child in posting to their Portfolio, but also give them the opportunity to post on their own. We want them to feel agency and success in how they are sharing their hard work with us! 😊 A reminder that my Office Hours are 9:00 - 11:00 Monday through Friday, but I will also be checking Class Dojo and email frequently throughout each day. As always, my priority is the well being of you and your families. Please don't hesitate to reach out, I am here for you all! Have a wonderful week. Best, ❤️Mrs. Floum
Dear second graders and families, Happy Monday! I hope you all are doing well. As we move into Week 2 of our "Extended Learning", the second grade team has put together some activities and resources for your children to engage in. Activity information has been attached to this email. Additionally, in this document you will find a link for resources from the Specialist Team to practice previously learned skills at home. I will continue to utilize Class Dojo and email to share out important information. Please make sure that both you and your children are set up on Class Dojo to support this transition to Extended Learning. My Office Hours will be 9:00 - 11:00, Monday through Friday. During this time, you can expect to receive a response almost immediately. I will also be checking my email and Class Dojo frequently throughout each day, so if something comes up please don't hesitate to reach out beyond those hours. To my amazing second graders - It has made me smile to see what you have already been working on at home and to see your pictures/videos on Class Dojo! I will continue rewarding you with Class Dojo points for each activity that you complete at home. Please upload any photos/videos to your Portfolio on Class Dojo. I miss you all very much and I'm very proud of you. I can't wait to see what you have been doing! ❤️ As mentioned in our letter, please respond through email or Class Dojo as acknowledgment that you received this information. I look forward to continuing our team work to best support your children. Best, Mrs. Floum 😊
⭐️Good Morning, Second Graders!⭐️
I hope that you are smiling today and ready for a beautiful, sunny day! 😊☀️ I have found something really exciting! An art teacher from Tennessee has created "Robot Week". It is a home-based art making experience for kids. Although we missed Monday and Tuesday, the video lessons are still up on her Youtube channel. She will be LIVE today on Facebook and Instagram at 11:00am CST/12:00pm EST. (Perfect for another Lunch Doodle!) Happy St. Patrick's Day! The school leadership team continues to work diligently to figure out expectations for "remote learning" for the next couple of weeks. For this week, please continue to focus on the ASL packet that I spoke about yesterday and utilize Lexia, IXL, and XtraMath. I'll be sending home other great options soon, but I'm trying to focus on one thing at a time right now. I have been sharing and retweeting many great ideas/virtual experiences from educators and authors on my Twitter. Please take a look! My Twitter handle is @mrs_floum. Today, I am going to be *taking a risk* and setting up Class Portfolios on Class Dojo. I am missing the kids so very much and want to utilize the Portfolios as a way to communicate with them directly. They can share photos or videos of activities they have been doing at home so far! This will most likely be the most efficient platform to communicate learning activities in the next couple of weeks. Our classroom text code for student login is UUK UYN. Then, your child will choose their individual name. *This text code is only good for 48 hours!* If this doesn't work, please let me know...this is going to be a new digital adventure for me today! Here is a link that provides information for you to log your child in to our Portfolios: https://classdojo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004708883-How-Does-My-Child-Log-into-Their-Student-Account-at-Home-#web I am thinking of you all constantly and want to remind you that I am here for you and your families. Please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for being patient with me and the entire MURSD team. Best, Mrs. Floum Good afternoon, Room 204 Families!
As you are most likely well aware, as of yesterday’s announcement from Governor Baker, all public schools in Massachusetts will be closed until at least April 7th. As Dr. Maruszczak shared in his most recent update last night, it is important to practice “social distancing” during this time. More information here: Social Distancing: This is Not a Snow Day. With that said, I understand these next weeks will be challenging and it is stressful facing uncertainty. I will do my very best to support you and your family over the coming weeks. Please don't hesitate to email me or message me through Class Dojo at any time, I will check often throughout the day. Starting TODAY, free grab-and-go lunches will be available at Nipmuc High School for ANY family in need. More here: MURSD "Grab and Go" Lunches You may also be seeing chatter on Facebook or within your social groups about the at-home learning expectations in the coming weeks. At this time, Dr. Maruszczak has ONLY directed teachers to reach out and check on families, and let them know we will use an ASL Day during this closure. School leadership will meet remotely later today to discuss plans moving forward, so I will let you know what’s happening once I know. In the meantime, work with your child to crack into their ASL folder and follow the directions for the second ASL day. If you are unable to locate the materials for the second ASL day, which was sent home in January, please let me know and I will scan a copy to you. I will also work on putting together some fun and educational resources to keep minds busy and sharp while we're home. Students are also able to access Lexia, XtraMath, and IXL from home. (Please let me know if you need help with login information!) Again, I will update you as I get more information from the school. In the meantime, please let your children know that I am thinking about them and miss them very much already. Please email me about ANYTHING. I am here for you! ️❤️Mrs. Floum Dear families, Below you will find scanned copies of the second ASL day packet, along with activity pages from PE and Technology. Please utilize the scanned copies the best that you can if you are unable to find the physical copies/ASL folder at home. I would LOVE to see your children working on these activities. Send along a photo/video as evidence and I'll reward with Class Dojo points! I'll be in touch again soon. My very best, Mrs. Floum
